Which solder wire has a brighter spot

2019-12-25

It can be found that the solder wire is often used, and the solder joint brightness of different solder wires is different. And the brightness of solder wire solder joints seems to have nothing to do with price.

The degree of solder joint brightness is mainly determined by two aspects:
1. In terms of solder: from the perspective of leaded solder, the tin content is above 50% (63/37 is the best), and the solder joints are all bright. Lead-free solder, tin-copper alloy (99.3 / 0.7), For tin-silver-copper (Ag0.3) alloys, the solder joints are bright. If the tin-silver-copper alloy is lead-free solder, when the silver content is 3.0%, the solder joints are not very bright. It's expensive, not something that a typical factory can use.

2. In terms of flux: In terms of the formulation and compatibility of the flux, some materials will darken the color of the solder joints, and some flux residues are corrosive, which will accelerate the oxidation and darkening of the solder joints.

So if you need a brighter solder joint, you can choose 6337 solder wire if there are no environmental requirements, this is the brightest solder wire. If there are environmental protection requirements, you can choose a conventional environmentally friendly solder wire with 0.3 silver solder wire.
